Ukraine: Malteser International supports more than 80,000 people at the onset of winter

Cologne/Lviv. The third winter of war in Ukraine threatens to be particularly harsh for the population. Temperatures have already dropped significantly. After almost three years of war, many houses no longer have functioning heating systems and windows have been destroyed. The power grid is under heavy attack. “Attacks on Ukraine have increased distinctly in recent days. It is important now, at the beginning of winter, to support people while temperatures continue to fall."

German Development Minister Schulze in Beirut

Beirut. On November 4, 2024, German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Svenja Schulze visited several Malteser International projects in Beirut. She met with families in a shelter who had been displaced due to the ongoing conflict. In the former school in Zouq Mkayel, which is currently being used as an emergency shelter, Malteser International is providing people with medical care and hot meals through its local partner, the Lebanese Order of Malta. During her visit, Minister Schulze also observed a Mobile Medical Unit, which brings care directly to people in need.

Lebanon: Malteser International expands medical care for the people

Cologne/Beirut. With the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Malteser International is further expanding medical care for people affected by the attacks in Lebanon. In addition to the eleven health centers, the Order of Malta Lebanon staff are now also providing medical care directly in the emergency shelters.
