Cologne: Effective as of 1st September 2022, Ms. Janine Lietmeyer, former head of MI’s Middle East Department, will assume the role of Director of Programs and Operations. In this role, she will be responsible for the operational and programmatic side of implementing MI’s newly completed Strategy 2025 and will take over a central role in the development of the organization.
The political science graduate with a master's degree in humanitarian aid has been working for the relief organization of the Order of Malta, Malteser International (MI), in different program functions. She has been heading the regional department Middle East responsible for program in Iraq, Syria, Türkiye and Lebanon for the last four years. After the Russian Invasion of Ukraine she has been building up MI's humanitarian response in Ukraine.
The responsibilities of the role of Director of Programs and Operations has been realigned following the Strategy 2025 process to include oversight of Emergency Relief and Program Administration to ensure a coherent and sustainable approach to programming.
