Nearly 600,000 civilians have crossed the border into Bangladesh since August to flee the conflict between the military and an insurgent group in Myanmar. Malteser International is working with a local partner to respond to the growing humanitarian crisis, and has provided mobile clinics to serve roughly 15,000 people in two refugee camps.

Our activities will be further extended in November to include two primary health care stations in both camps. As women and children constitute around 80% of the refugee population, Malteser International will also provide nutrition supplements for the many children and expectant mothers among them. The intervention is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and Germany’s Relief Coalition (ADH), and will run until the end of 2017.
